Original bad-boy photographer Bert Stern reveals with surprising frankness the price he paid for the ultimate big life in photography.  Click here for more.

One of the legendary figures in contemporary photography, Bert Stern personified the commercial photographer as a cultural hero in the late 1960s.  Hugely successful in the worlds of fashion and advertising photography, in the late 1960s he operated a studio, not unlike Andy Warhol’s Factory, from which he created countless award winning ads, editorial features, magazine covers, films and portraits.

Here are some of the famous icons that he has photographed:

Woody Allen, Brigette Bardo, Drew Barrymore, Jacqueline Bisset, Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Hepburn, Lindsay Lohan, Sophia Loren, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Kate Moss, Peter O’Toole, Barbra Streisand, Twiggy
